A trip through the fortresses of Podolia
Kamenets-Podolsky Fortresses of Podolsk, or rather two cities: Kamenets-Podolsky and Khotyn, we looked at during our trips last month. The trip turned out to be varied and interesting, but it slightly strained the excessive attention of customs officers and border guards when crossing the Crimean border. The Koriatowicz Estate After driving from Yalta to Melitopol in seven hours, and leaving the car at a paid parking lot, we bought tickets for the Lviv train. The next day, we celebrated our arrival in Ukraine with friends in Vinnytsia. Our hospitable friends let me and my family go to Kamenets-Podolsky only on the third day. The springs of the park fill the lake, from which a man-made waterfall flows into the Smotrich River by a slow train at night, we were safely delivered in the early morning to this beautiful town of Ukrainian Podillia. Festivals of all varieties and calibers are held all year round in this excellent place and residents always greet guests with smiles, regardless of skin color and nationality of visitors. Deer frozen on the rock of Kamenetsky Canyon. After renting a room in a small family hotel for only five dollars a day, we were pleased with the cheap housing and affordable entertainment in this beautiful resort town. In Yalta, Crimea, the price of any room cannot be lower than $ 10 per day, and a modest lunch for two in an ordinary cafe is off the charts for a tenner. Swan Lake in Kamenets-Podolsk After walking through the center of Kamenets-Podolsk, we reached the ancient park of the Koriatovich estate. A beautiful alley with century-old trees led us to a playground with several springs. A little further away, there was a small lake with swans and ducks swimming. The waterfall flows into the canyon where the river Smotrich flows. The untouched beauty of the huge ancient canyon, with the small river Smotrich flowing along the bottom, amazes everyone who visits these parts for the first time. Novoplanovsky Bridge, connecting the Old Town with Novy Kamenets, A deep 60-meter natural fault encircles the Old Town from all sides with its fortifications, towers and castles. In the old days, the fortress walls of Kamianets could not be stormed even once, such a good location provided reliable protection for the inhabitants. The old part of the city and the fortress of Kamenets-Podolsk are very beautiful. Millions of tourists from all over the world come every year to admire the unique architecture of ancient buildings and fortifications. Several dozen buildings have been preserved in their original form, many have been restored by the current owners. The hoary history of the first centuries of fierce struggle between Christianity and Islam has passed and is reflected in this fabulous place. It seems that the characters of many historical films and books are still hiding here and occasionally peek out of every dark window of the houses of the Old Town. Peter and Paul Cathedral The decoration of Kamianets-Podolsky is a fortress, originally founded back in 1362 by the Lithuanian invaders of the lands of Kievan Rus. Kamenets-Podolsk fortress is connected to the city by a Castle bridge. An impregnable and majestic citadel reigns over the entire city. Many of its towers remained in their original form, but some are still in a state of repair and restoration. The huge height of the fortress walls reliably protects the city from invaders. Armenian craftsmen who lived here since the eleventh century and built the city on the orders of the Lithuanian princes have perpetuated their memory: there is an Armenian church, a market, a well, and a bastion. The multinational composition of the population of Kamenets-Podolsk determines the democratic and tolerant spirit of the free city, which had a charter on Magdeburg law since 1374. wintopia καζίνο
