The present work is a follow up of our previous paper presented at the 20th EU BC&E, where we demonstrated the application of two different methodological approaches for the assessment of the biomass resources and their territorial availability in two South European rural regions: (a) Capitanata, Puglia, IT; and (b) Thessaly, GR. Despite their proven biomass potential, its exploitation and the market penetration of the biomass-based energy applications in both regions is far from satisfactory.
