Raman spectroscopy was employed in order to determine the osteoarthritic areas on a human meniscus. In these areas the presence of certain glycosaminoglycans (chondroitin sulfate, dermatan sulfate and heparan sulfate) was detected, along with certain types of collagen (type I and II).
