In this study, spectroscopic techniques and specifically micro-Raman and ATR spectroscopy were employed for the exploration of interactions between different glycosaminoglycans and collagen type I. Both of the above biological macromolecules are found in abundance in connective tissues. Results showed a preference of collagen type I to interact with heparin.
